The National Trust organised a fantastic day for us - We were Famous Writers for the day!
On Monday, Weymouth Class went to Hardy's Cottage and Thorncombe Woods. We walked in the footsteps of Thomas Hardy, wrote poetry in Thomas Hardy's potting shed, heard poetry up on The Heath where Hardy gained a lot of his inspiration for his work. Collected items in the woods to use in our poems. We entered the house and found out all about what life was like when Thomas Hardy was alive. We asked lots of questions about where they got their food from. We used the bellows to get the fire going and found out what Thomas Hardy and his family did in the evenings before the days of television and iPads!! (imagine that)
The Sheep Pig
We've started English this year by reading the Sheep Pig by Dick King Smith. We've started our Talk for Writing by learning part of the story.
