Bad Weather / Emergency School Closure Procedures
From time to time, in severe winter weather, or other emergency situations, it may be necessary to close the school early, or not open at all.
If the decision is made before school starts not to open, the information will be passed to the Guard Room and to Dorset County Council. The County website displays the official list of up-to-date school closures. The radio stations refer to this list for their own broadcast. You can view the school closures list directly online at: http://mapping.dorsetforyou.com/closedservices. We will also send out a text message on Parentmail – please ensure that you are signed up with your correct mobile telephone number to this service.
Please also bear in mind that we might have to close the school early, even if it is not snowing, because weather forecasts suggest rapidly deteriorating conditions. In this case we would also send out a text message using Parentmail. In the event of school closure the school mini bus WILL NOT run. If this is the case please contact the school to arrange for your child / children to be collected as soon as possible.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO UPDATE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR CONTACT DETAILS WITH BOTH THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND PARENTMAIL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
If at all possible, it would be best during bad weather conditions to view the school closures list directly online at: The school closure will also be on the school website www.bovingtonprimary.dorset.sch.uk
IF UNSURE, PLEASE TELEPHONE THE SCHOOL ON 01929 462744, FROM 7.30AM ONWARDS.
N.B. It is important that we and your child / children know where to go in the event of early school closure.
