Every year we take part in the PYA Week (Purbeck Young Artists).  This year’s theme is ’A Moment in Time’.  As a school we have created pieces of art to reflect this theme.  A selection of the work is submitted to be displayed at Rollington Barn as part of Purbeck Arts Week.  We are very proud of how hard all the children and staff have worked. To celebrate this we held an Artists’ Café on 4th May 2017.

The Arts at Bovington Primary school includes Art and Design and Design and Technology.

During these sessions we aspire to teach skills, allow imagination and appreciate the various forms of artist expression from historical, local and current artists. We strive to use a variety of media and medium based on our topic work.

We regularly hold whole school exhibitions to show case the work that has been carried out across the school. Often this is linked to themes such as Harvest or are part of  wider Purbeck displays such as Purbeck Arts week. Every year we submit work to Purbeck Art's week where our children's work is displayed in a local "pop up" gallery.During this time we work with local artists to understand the process of creating art more.

We are forging links with a local gallery, Tincleton Art Gallery, to develop this further as well as giving our students the opportunity to visit a gallery and to evaluate and analyse creative works. We have recently taken a group of children to the Gallery where they studied a series of paintings by  Aude Grasset. It was wonderful to empower the children with the fact that art is such a personal experience and that it's acceptable not to dislike a piece. To hear them discussing their preferences was a privilege. We are hope for all pupils to visit the Gallery in the New Year. Thank you Joan for facilitating these visits.

Whether it is making, drawing, designing, painting, creating or sketching we strive to give our pupils a life long learning experience.
