Bovington Primary School

Curiosity Growth Resilience.

Welcome back........ The children have all made a fantastic and settled start to the new school year

Forest Schools

The school will be seeking to offer Forest Provision as part of its broad and balanced curriculum from Reception to Y6 from September 2017. FS is a long-term process of regular sessions, rather than a one-off or infrequent visits; the cycle of planning, observation, adaptation and review links each session.

o FS takes place in a woodland or natural environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.

o FS uses a range of learner-centred processes to create a community for being, development and learning.

o FS aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.

o FS offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.

o FS is run by qualified Forest School practitioners who continuously maintain and develop their professional practice.

Up date!

Over the summer the areas that were left to go wild have grown and developed.

Mrs Humphries has been in contact with the local regiment and a group of Troops have started preparing the Forest Schools Area. They have begun to dig the fire pit and also begun work on clearing out some of the dense foliage.

The fence will be put up at the start of term and work will happen each week to develop the Forest Schools area in the Autumn term, as part of enrichment, ready to begin fully as part of the curriculum for all from January 2018- fingers crossed!

World Record Breakers!

The school participated in a National event 'Walk for Wildlife' to raise money towards the development of natural habitats as part of Forest Schools developments. This was organised by Mrs Humphries. We have found out that we helped to set a Guinness World Record for 'The largest children's sponsored walk ever held'. Well done to all the children and family that participated in this. We had a wonderful afternoon.

As soon as we receive our certificate we will post it below.
